Vault of the Deep is a 5-reel, 40-payline sunken-treasure slot developed by Playtech, set inside the flooded halls of a lost ocean liner where a lone diver searches the drowned corridors for a sealed vault. The game builds its action around a Hot Zone in the centre of the grid, where the Diver Wild appears on reel 3, row 2 and sweeps up every jewelled key on screen. The Ship That Never Surfaced — A Dive Into the Drowned Ballroom
She went down in a single night, her funnels still warm, and the sea closed over her without ceremony. For decades she lay tilted on a shelf of pale sand, her portholes glowing faintly in the filtered daylight, her decks slowly claimed by coral fans and drifting schools of reef fish. Charts marked the position as empty water. The rumours said otherwise.
The diver descends along the line of the hull, past the shattered rails and the rows of lit windows that should not still be lit. Inside, the drowned ballroom holds its shape: marble columns furred with algae, a chandelier swaying in a current that never stops, a stone lion keeping watch at the head of a staircase that leads nowhere. Sound arrives strangely down here — a groan of settling steel, the tick of pressure against the plates.
Behind the ballroom lies the reason for the descent. A vault, its face bound in chains, its four locks waiting for keys that were scattered through the ship when she went under. Somewhere in the deeper passages an octopus shifts in the dark, watching the intruder pass. The diver checks her air, kicks once, and swims further in.
Reels, Paylines and Base Symbols
The grid runs across five reels and three rows with 40 fixed paylines. Wins are formed by three or more matching symbols on a payline across consecutive reels from left to right, and only the highest combination pays on each line. Card ranks from 9 through Ace sit at the lower end of the paytable, while the pocket watch, gemstone necklace, gold bars and jewelled egg act as the premium picture symbols.
The Diver Wild and the Hot Zone
The Female Diver is the Wild and substitutes for all symbols except Cash Prize, Bonus, 1 Up and X. She is restricted to a single position — the Hot Zone on reel 3, row 2 — and appears only during the main game. Whenever she lands in that zone, she collects the values shown on every Cash Prize symbol in view. If she fails to appear, the Rewind feature may randomly roll the Hot Zone back so that the Diver settles into place after all.
Cash Prize Keys
Cash Prize symbols are ornate keys carrying a value expressed as a share of the total bet: green keys are worth 0.5×, blue keys 1×, purple keys 1.5×, and orange keys carry the higher steps of 2×, 2.25×, 2.5×, 3×, 3.75× or 5×. These values are paid when the Diver Wild collects them. Every green, blue and purple key that lands also lifts the matching Special Prize above the reels by 0.1×, while an orange key lifts its own tier by 0.25×.
Win Multiplier, 1 Up and X Symbols
The multiplier diamond at the top right of the reels tracks the current win multiplier, which can climb to 10×. Each 1 Up porthole raises it by one, and 1 Up can no longer land once 10× is reached. The X porthole is what puts the multiplier to work: it multiplies all Cash Prize symbols on the reels by the current value. Without an X landing, the multiplier stays locked. Bonus and X symbols cannot appear on the same spin, though Bonus and 1 Up can.
Vault Respins Feature
Landing the anchor Bonus symbol anywhere on the reels together with the Diver Wild triggers Vault Respins. Three respins are awarded and the triggering Wild stays locked in the Hot Zone throughout. Only Cash Prize and 1 Up symbols can land during the feature, and every one of them resets the respin counter back to three. Each Cash Prize is multiplied by the current win multiplier as it lands. Filling every position on the reels awards the 5000× Grand. When respins run out all prizes are paid, the Golden Chest may trigger, and the multiplier resets to 1×.
Golden Chest Feature and Increasing Special Prizes
The Golden Chest can be triggered on any base-game spin when a Cash Prize symbol lands, and also at the end of Vault Respins. Boxes are picked until three matching chest symbols appear, awarding the Special Prize of that colour. In standard play the orange tier begins at 200× and climbs to 500×, purple runs from 100× to 250×, blue from 20× to 100×, and green from 7.5× to 50×. Once a tier is won, its value resets to the starting figure.
Buy Feature
The Buy Feature button to the left of the reels triggers Vault Respins directly, with the option to choose the starting win multiplier from 1× up to 10×. The cost scales with that choice, from 20× the total bet at 1× multiplier up to 122.5× the total bet at 10×. Buying the feature also raises the entry points of the Special Prizes — orange from 375×, purple from 175×, blue from 60× and green from 25× — which revert to their previous values on returning to the main game.

The theoretical RTP in standard bet mode is 95.83%. Buy Feature rounds carry their own figures depending on the multiplier selected, ranging from 94.91% to 95.99%.
