Age of the Gods: Helios - Playtech Demo

Age of the Gods: Helios is a 5-reel, 40-line slot machine game developed by Playtech with the theme of Helios, the sun god in ancient Greek mythology.

Helios was one of the Titans, son of Hyperion and Theia, brother to Selene (the Moon) and Eos (the Dawn).

Each day, he drove his golden chariot drawn by four fiery horses across the sky from east to west, bringing daylight to the world.

His horses were named Pyrois, Eos, Aethon, and Phlegon, known for their fierce and bright nature.

One of the most famous stories involving Helios is the tragic tale of his son Phaethon.

The young man, seeking proof that Helios was truly his father, asked to drive the sun chariot for a day.

Though Helios strongly advised against it, he had sworn by the River Styx to grant his son any wish.

Unable to control the powerful horses, Phaethon drove too close to the Earth, nearly burning it to ashes.

Zeus was forced to strike him down with a thunderbolt to prevent global destruction.

Helios was known for his all-seeing nature, as his daily journey across the sky allowed him to witness everything that happened on Earth.

It was he who informed Hephaestus of his wife Aphrodite's affair with Ares, and he who told Demeter about the abduction of her daughter Persephone by Hades.

The most sacred island to Helios was Rhodes, where the famous Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, was built in his honor.

On this island, he was said to have seven flocks of cattle and seven flocks of sheep, each numbering fifty animals, which never increased or decreased in number.

Another notable story involves Helios and Odysseus's crew.

When Odysseus's men landed on the island of Thrinacia, they ignored warnings and slaughtered some of Helios's sacred cattle for food.

Enraged, Helios threatened to take his light to the Underworld unless Zeus punished them.

Zeus responded by destroying Odysseus's ship with a thunderbolt, killing all crew members except Odysseus himself.

Helios also played a role in the story of Medea.

After she killed her children to punish her unfaithful husband Jason, Helios sent a chariot drawn by dragons to help his granddaughter escape from Corinth.

This demonstrated his loyalty to family, even in the face of terrible deeds.

While later Greek mythology often merged Helios with Apollo, they were originally distinct deities.

Helios represented the physical sun itself and its journey across the sky, while Apollo had a broader divine portfolio including prophecy, music, and healing, along with solar associations.
