Big Bad Towers is a 5-reel, 243-ways medieval siege slot developed by Playtech, set outside a sunlit castle where a green dragon perches above the battlements and three champions guard the walls below. Coloured flags on the middle reels channel energy to the Blue, Green and Red Characters, each unlocking a distinct perk for the Free Games Feature, while Crown Scatters convert into Frames that grow into prize-paying Towers. Wilds, Mystery Tower Gates and a Buy Bonus option round out a build-and-upgrade format where every landed Scatter strengthens the fortress you leave behind.
The Siege of the Painted Walls — A Kingdom Under Dragon Wings
The kingdom was never meant to be quiet. Its walls were raised in pale stone and crowned with green-tiled turrets, its lanes lined with timbered houses and banners that snapped in the warm afternoon wind. Three coloured poles stood at the gate, and from each hung a flag: one blue, one green, one red, marking the three houses sworn to defend the realm.
Then the dragon came. It settled on the ramparts as though the castle had always belonged to it, wings spread wide over the courtyard, claws hooked into the battlements, teeth bared at anyone bold enough to look up. The kingdom did not flee. Instead, the defenders wheeled cannons and crossbows into position along the walls and prepared for a siege that would be measured in towers rather than days.
Above the gate stood the three who would decide the outcome. The blue squire watched the horizon and thought about how much wider the walls could stretch. The green king, crowned in emerald, believed strength should be shared across every stone. The red-hooded mystic studied the highest turret and imagined it taller still, reaching past anything the kingdom had built before.
Each time a flag was raised, its pulse travelled upward to its champion. Each time a crown fell among the ruins, a frame took root where it landed, and the frame remembered. Stone by stone, level by level, the fortress answered the dragon — not with fire, but with towers.
Reels, Ways and Symbol Values
The main game runs on a 5-reel grid with 243 ways to win. Winning combinations, other than Scatter combinations, are formed from matching symbols in any position on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost reel, and only the longest winning combination per symbol is paid. The King leads the paytable, followed by the Blue Squire and the Red Mystic, then the Cannon, Crossbow and the royal card symbols A, K, Q, J and 10.
Wild and Mystery Symbols
The Dragon is the Wild symbol and substitutes for all symbols except the Scatter and the Flag symbols to complete the best available combination. The Tower Gate acts as the Mystery symbol: on a winning spin, Mystery symbols can land and all reveal the same random symbol, which is then included in the win evaluation. Mystery symbols never reveal the Flag or Wild symbols.
Scatters and Flag Symbols
The Crown is the Scatter symbol, and 6 or more Crowns in any position trigger the Free Games Feature. The Blue, Green and Red Flags each appear on their own dedicated reel — reel 2, reel 3 and reel 4 respectively. When a Flag lands in the main game, an energy pulse is sent to the matching Character above the reels, and this may trigger the Free Games Feature with that Character Perk attached.
Free Games Feature and the Tower Build
Six Free Games are awarded. Any Scatters present on the triggering spin vanish and leave Frames in their positions, and the reels then spin independently throughout the feature. Each time a new Scatter lands, a Frame appears in that position, or an existing Frame upgrades by one level. A Scatter cannot land where a Frame has already reached its maximum level, which is 3 by default. The +1 Free Game symbol can land anywhere during the feature and adds one extra spin.
Once all Free Games are played, every Frame becomes a Tower matching its level. Level 1 Towers randomly award 0.4×, 0.5×, 0.6×, 0.8× or 1× total bet. Level 2 Towers award 1.5×, 2×, 2.5×, 3×, 4× or 20×. Level 3 Towers award 5×, 6×, 8×, 10×, 12×, 20× or 100×. Level 4 Towers award 15×, 20×, 50×, 100×, 200×, 500× or 1000× total bet. All prizes are then paid and the feature ends.
Character Perks
Any combination of the three perks can be active at once, including none. The Blue Character Perk expands the reel grid to 6 rows by 5 reels. The Green Character Perk enables the Spreader, so before the first Free Games spin the Green Flag scatters up to 10 Frames randomly across the grid. The Red Character Perk unlocks Level 4 Frames for the whole feature, transforming the Red Flag into a Level 4 Frame and raising the maximum Frame level to 4, which regular Frames can also reach with enough Scatters in the same position.
Buy Bonus
The Buy Bonus button purchases direct entry into the Free Games Feature with the Blue, Green and Red Character Perks all active. Players select a Buy Bonus bet level and confirm the purchase, after which the reels spin and the feature begins immediately.
