Age of the Gods: King of Olympus Megaways is a 6-Reel slot game developed by Playtech themed after Zeus, King of Olympus in ancient Greek mythology with up to 117,649 ways to win.
Zeus was the youngest son of the Titans Cronus and Rhea.
Cronus, fearing a prophecy that his children would overthrow him, swallowed each of his children at birth.
However, when Zeus was born, Rhea tricked Cronus by giving him a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes to swallow instead, hiding the infant Zeus in Crete.
Raised in secret by nymphs and protected by the Curetes, Zeus grew strong.
When he reached maturity, he enlisted the help of his mother and the Titaness Metis to make Cronus disgorge his siblings: Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon.
Zeus then led his siblings in a great war against the Titans, known as the Titanomachy, which lasted ten years.
With the help of the Cyclopes, who gave him his thunderbolt, and the Hecatonchires, Zeus and his siblings emerged victorious.
After their victory, the world was divided among the three brothers: Zeus took the sky and became king of the gods, Poseidon received the seas, and Hades ruled the underworld.
Zeus established his court on Mount Olympus, where he ruled with both wisdom and power, though often displaying very human flaws.
Zeus married his sister Hera, making her queen of the gods, but he was notorious for his many affairs with both goddesses and mortals.
These relationships produced numerous divine and heroic offspring, including Apollo and Artemis (with Leto), Hermes (with Maia), Dionysus (with Semele), Athena (born from his head after he swallowed Metis), and many heroes like Heracles (with Alcmene) and Perseus.
As ruler of the gods, Zeus maintained cosmic order, dispensed justice, and controlled the weather - particularly thunder and lightning.
He was both protector and punisher: he watched over oaths, protected travelers and suppliants, but also punished those who displayed hubris or violated divine laws.
Famous examples include his punishment of Prometheus for giving fire to humans, and the Great Flood he sent to cleanse humanity of its wickedness.
Despite his supreme power, even Zeus was subject to the Fates and could not always change destiny.
This was demonstrated in cases like the death of his son Sarpedon during the Trojan War, where he had to allow fate to take its course despite his personal grief.
Zeus's rule was occasionally challenged.
The most serious threat came during the Gigantomachy, when the Giants attempted to overthrow the Olympians.
Another notable rebellion was attempted by Hera, Poseidon, and Athena, but it failed.
These challenges only served to reinforce Zeus's position as the uncontested king of gods and men.
Throughout Greek mythology, Zeus embodied the paradoxes of divine rule: he was both just and arbitrary, faithful and unfaithful, protective and destructive.
His worship was central to ancient Greek religion, with his main sanctuary at Olympia being the site of the Olympic Games.
The great statue of Zeus there was considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
