Age of the Gods: Medusa & Monsters - Playtech Demo

Age of the Gods: Medusa & Monsters is a 5-reel, 164-line slot game developed by Playtech based on the Gorgon Medusa, one of the three Gorgon sisters in ancient Greek mythology.

Medusa was once a beautiful maiden with magnificent hair, who served as a priestess in Athena's temple.

Her beauty caught the attention of many suitors, including Poseidon, the god of the sea.

However, this attention would lead to her tragic transformation.

In one version of the tale, Poseidon attacked and assaulted Medusa within Athena's temple.

Instead of punishing Poseidon, Athena directed her wrath at Medusa.

The goddess transformed her into a terrifying creature with snakes for hair and a gaze that could turn anyone who looked directly at her into stone.

This punishment was seen by some as doubly cruel, as Medusa was the victim of Poseidon's actions.

Banished from society, Medusa lived in isolation with her Gorgon sisters, Stheno and Euryale.

Her very existence became a curse, as any living being that met her gaze was instantly petrified.

Over time, the area around her dwelling became filled with stone statues - the remains of unfortunate travelers who had encountered her.

Her story reached its climax when Perseus, son of Zeus and Danae, was sent on a quest to bring back her head.

Armed with gifts from the gods - including a mirrored shield from Athena, winged sandals from Hermes, and a cap of invisibility from Hades - Perseus was able to approach Medusa while she slept.

Using the mirrored shield to avoid looking at her directly, he beheaded her with a single stroke.

From Medusa's severed neck sprang Pegasus, the winged horse, and Chrysaor, a giant wielding a golden sword.

These were her children by Poseidon, finally born upon her death.

Perseus took Medusa's head, which retained its petrifying power even after death, and used it as a weapon in several subsequent adventures before giving it to Athena, who placed it on her shield, the Aegis.

Medusa's story has been interpreted in many ways throughout history - as a cautionary tale about pride, a symbol of female power, or a victim of divine injustice.

Her image continues to be one of the most recognizable symbols from Greek mythology, representing both the power to protect and the power to destroy.
