CoinFall: The Big Freeze is a 6-reel, 6-row pay-anywhere slot developed by Playtech, set across a frozen Ice Age valley where a fur-clad hunter guards a hoard of golden coins buried in the permafrost. The game drops matching symbols anywhere on the grid, awarding wins for clusters of eight or more, and chains them together through cascading drops. A Cascade Counter and Coin Bar sit above the reels to feed the CoinFall feature, while Cash Coin scatters can freeze the entire screen into an 11-row Freeze Spins grid layered with a climbing multiplier tower.
The Big Freeze: A Valley Locked in Ice
Long after the last warm season faded, the great cold rolled down from the northern ranges and sealed the valley beneath a shell of blue ice. Rivers stopped mid-flow. Mammoth herds froze in their tracks. Whole forests were swallowed by drifting white, and the sabre-toothed hunters that once ruled these plains became shapes suspended inside glassy walls, forever mid-snarl.
One tribe endured. Wrapped in thick pelts and armed with little more than a carved spear and stubborn will, the last hunter walks the glacier line each dawn, reading cracks in the ice the way others read the sky. He knows the frost is not empty. Beneath it, pressed into the layers like fossils, lie discs of gold left by peoples who came before the freeze, scattered when their world went silent.
When the ice shifts, it groans and splits, and treasure tumbles loose from the ceiling of the world. Sometimes a single piece. Sometimes an avalanche. The hunter has learned to wait for the moment the glacier gives way completely, when the valley locks into a towering wall of frost and every falling coin stacks higher toward the summit, where the cold burns brightest and the ancient hoard finally shows its full face.
Pay-Anywhere Wins
There are no paylines in CoinFall: The Big Freeze. Symbols pay from anywhere on the 6x6 grid, and eight or more matching symbols in view award a win. The total count of a symbol on screen at the end of a spin determines the payout tier, with separate values for 8+, 10+ and 12+ matches. The hunter is the premium symbol, followed by the mammoth, the sabre-toothed cat and the wolf, with the horn, the axe and four crystal card suits filling the lower tiers.
Cascade Feature
After each win is awarded, the winning symbols are removed from the grid. Remaining symbols fall to the bottom of the reels and empty positions are refilled from above, potentially creating fresh winning combinations. The sequence repeats until no new wins are formed, so a single spin can produce multiple consecutive payouts.
Cash Coins and Scatters
Cash Coin symbols act as scatters and each one carries its own bet multiplier, with values of 0.5×, 1×, 2×, 3×, 5×, 10× and 25× the total bet. If 5 or 6 Cash Coins are anywhere on screen, their combined value pays out immediately. Landing 7 or more Cash Coins after all cascades resolve triggers the Freeze Spins feature.
CoinFall Feature
A Cascade Counter and a Coin Bar are displayed above the reels during the main game. Every spin, the Coin Bar is filled with 1 to 6 random coins, and each winning cascade wave lights up one division of the counter. Four sequential cascades activate the CoinFall feature, dropping all coins from the bar onto the reels below, where they act as Cash Coins. If cascading continues, the bar refills with a new set of coins and the counter restarts. The counter resets when the cascade sequence ends.
Freeze Spins
Freeze Spins are played on an expanded grid of 6 columns and 11 rows with a life meter beside the reels. The feature begins with 6 lives, and only Cash Coins, Extra Life symbols and Picker symbols can land. The triggering Cash Coins drop and stack along the bottom, with any empty spaces in those rows filled by ice cube blocker symbols so the rows complete.
Each spin, at least one symbol drops onto the reels and one life is removed from the meter. Filling an entire row, including blockers, resets the life meter back to 6. A multiplier ladder runs alongside the grid, with higher rows carrying larger multipliers of 1×, 2×, 5×, 8× and 10×. When lives run out and no extra lives remain, the total value of all Cash Coins on every completed row is collected and multiplied by that row's multiplier.
Extra Life and Picker Symbols
The gold coin marked with a red heart is the Extra Life symbol. It grants an additional life, letting the feature continue, then transforms into a random Cash Coin symbol after updating the meter. The gold coin marked with a purple diamond is the Picker symbol, which only lands after a row has been completed. It collects the total value of all Cash Coins in the most recently completed row and adds that amount as a Cash Coin of its own.
Extra Bet and Buy Feature
Extra Bet mode guarantees at least 3 coins on the Coin Bar during every spin of the CoinFall feature, and increases the total bet by 1.3×. Enabling it does not change the payouts. Alternatively, Freeze Spins can be triggered instantly from the base game using the Buy Feature for 60× the current total bet, starting the feature with a random number of coins. The Buy Feature button is disabled while Extra Bet mode is active.
Joker Flip Jackpot
Four jackpot levels — Joker, King, Queen and Jack — are won randomly. Any spin of any amount can trigger the jackpot game, including spins that produce no win, though higher bets increase the chance of entering it. Once inside, a win of one of the four levels is guaranteed: cards are picked until three identical ones are collected, and the matching level is awarded.
